Radio Is A No No In A Spanish Salon

Recently there have been many Spanish hairdressers/Salons that have actually put notices on their doors to ask their customers to come into the place with their own music collection. This does sound like a bit of silly idea as hairdressers are very well know for their customers listening to the radio when they are there getting their hair cut. What are we going to see next, people turning up with their guitars looking to get a bit of change in turn for playing for their customers?

So Why Are They Not Playing The Radio?

Well in Spain they are fighting a huge struggle against the music industry as they are charging businesses to actually play the radio. Many businesses are already struggling to get by as it is and to have to pay yet another bill is just going to cause trouble that could send many people under. The government are giving small businesses more taxes to pay out in the middle of a recession, is this really a good idea.

The argument is that the musicians are not getting enough money from their music which I am almost certainĀ  is untrue. There is no way the record companies and artists need any more money than they already have, the ones that get played on the radio are huge, what more do they need. So many people are complaining against this new bill and it remains to be seen whether or not a difference can actually be made from the complaints.

So if you are in Spain and are travelling to Spain soon and come across a hairdresser do everything you can to get your own music in there. Take in what you can whether it is drum kits or even the out there DJ equipment.

This way you are helping out all of the people that may not be able to afford that extra tax.
