One tree that is very popular among a lot of people to plant for their yards are the palm trees.People like the way their look really enhances their garden. But what a lot of people fail to understand is that palm trees don’t do well in some climates. The reason for this is mostly because of the climate.Often the areas that are colder will make it harder for palm trees to grow.  But you can still grow palm trees if you know how to care for them. With this article we are going to go over some things that will help you care for them better.

First of all some palm trees like the foxtail palm in colder climates develop fungal diseases. This is is caused primarily when the roots get too much water. The way that works best in avoiding htis is to plant the tree in warmer weather climates.  But if it can’t be avoided and you want to try to grow it keep the soil drained. That is the most effective method in preventing this disease from happening.

Another type of disease that affects palms such as coconut palm trees are leaf blight.  This is where there are yellow or brown spots on the leaf. This begins the spread of it as it begins to kill the leaves. The most effective way to stop this is to make sure to prune any affected areas. Also something else you can do is give it more iron and apply some fungicide. When you don’t have enough iron it is one reason for this, so add some nutrients.

Finallly overwatering is the cause of a lot of disease that palm trees get.  Sometimes it is because there is poor drainage so the water gets trapped in the soil.  This will be the cause of a lot of diseases.  So if you are looking for palm trees for sale keep this things in mind.  If you do these things you are sure to have beautiful palm trees that last a long time.It isn’t a pleasant thing to have happen when your palm dies because of diseases.
