Every day sees the launching of a new brand on the net. In reality, the majority of them will fail within the first year and most will not even appear on the radar to start with. Then of course you have the more traditionally offline brands that are venturing online and in the hope of unearthing whole new markets. These companies tend to have the finances to make a splash but even they find it a whole lot harder than they expected get foothold online. Here are 2 of the top methods of making sure your brand gets noticed and lasts as long as you want it to.

Advertising . If you’re new to the ways of the web, advertising can be a quick and easy way to get attention. Many methods of online advertising exist and you will find that some are a great deal more effective than others. A good trick is to test the water so to speak for a number of methods before you jump in head first. Set aside a small budget for lots of different types of online advertising and then gradually increase your spend with the ones that give you highest return on investment and brand awareness. Another consideration should be where you place your advertising on the net. If you are a provider of liability insurance quotes for instance, you don’t want your ads being placed on skin care sites.

Social Media. The profile of social media sites have seen a large increase in recent years, although their is also a reasonable amount of confusion over how they work. Often people think they can start an online group, get a few people to join and the thing will snowball. The reality of it is that you have to work very hard, engage with the people you are trying to target and nurture groups so that they grow and start to build confidence in your brand. Much like with online adverting, where you place yourself in social domains is very important. If you are trying to promote a hair salon for example, you will want to be checking out beauty and fashion forums, joining groups that are related to hairstyling and contributing content to these places on important topics such as salon insurance or hair care products.
